5 Spring Street
Stafford Springs, CT 06076
The museum is open on the second Sunday of the month, March to November, from 2-4. When we have enough volunteers, we are open during downtown events. On most Monday nights there is a "workshop" from 7 - 8:30 during which the museum and exhibits are maintained. The Patten One-Room Schoolhouse museum is open during Farm Fest in September and for other special occasions. Both buildings are also open by appointment. Check website for updates. Volunteers are needed and welcome.
The Stafford Historical Society was founded in 1962 to preserve materials relating to Staffords history for the education and enjoyment of present and future generations. The societys main museum at 5 Spring Street has two floors of exhibits about Stafford and a library with research facilities on local topics. The society also restored the Patten District One-Room Schoolhouse at Heritage Park in Stafford. Monthly meetings with presentations by guest speakers are held five months a year and a museum workshop is held every Monday night at the main museum. Other events are held throughout the year. The Society is a non-profit, volunteer run organization. New members are always welcome.
