Notary Services

The Town Clerk's Office provides to the residents of Stafford the free services of a Notary Public for single personal documents during normal office hours.

You must appear in person and provide proper identification, such as a driver's license or a photo ID. Remember, the purpose of a Notary Public is to witness the signing of said document, so do not sign anything until you appear in person.

Due to legal requirements please do not ask us to notarize:

  • Conveyances of Land or Property
  • Wills - Living or General
  • Health Directives
  • Birth, Death, or Marriage Certificates not in our files

Consultations concerning Living Wills, Health Related Wills or Power of Attorney are provided by the State of Connecticut Department of Social Services at no charge.

Please remember, we must observe the law and the legally required standard of "Reasonable Care" to protect all parties involved. We reserve the right to modify these services as necessary and appreciate your cooperation.
