MEDICAL CAR AND SENIOR BUS SERVICES
Curbside service available
to seniors and disabled Stafford residents
MEDICAL
TRANSPORTATION
Our
medical car is available for appointments on Monday through Thursday. Our driver/attendant will pick up the client
at their private residence and transport them to their medical
appointments. Riders must be able to get
into and out of their homes and the car on their own. After the appointment, the client is returned
home. If the client requires a
prescription, we can sometimes fit in a pharmacy stop before returning the client
home. Check with the driver; if her
schedule permits, it can be done. The
driver travels to doctors, hospitals, and clinics in Somers, Enfield, Stafford,
Willington, Tolland, Vernon, Willimantic, Rockville, Manchester, and South
Windsor. We recommend that as soon as the client is aware of their appointment,
they call the office at (860) 684-7752 to book their ride. If the time is already booked with another
client, we can suggest another time that may be available.
MEDICAL
TRANSPORTATION TO HARTFORD AREA HOSPITALS AND UCONN MEDICAL CENTER
The
town offers rides on a first come, first served basis to appointments at
hospitals in Hartford or the UCONN Medical Center in Farmington on the last
Wednesday of each month. Riders are
likely to be sharing the car with another person, and should expect to be out
for the day as there are different appointment times.
SENIOR
BUS TRANSPORTATION
We
offer a ride to the Senior Center for Congregate meals on Monday, Wednesday and
most Thursdays and Fridays.
On
Tuesdays we offer in town shopping. Our
driver/attendant picks shoppers up at their homes, and they have the
opportunity to do specific in-town errands on the town bus. In the morning, the bus stops at the downtown
post office, the banks, pharmacy, and the BIG Y Plaza. In the afternoon, the bus stops at the post
office, banks, pharmacy, and Big Y or Geissler's on alternating weeks. Our
driver/attendant is able to assist with putting groceries on and off the bus as
well.
There
are also sometimes out of town trips to restaurants or larger shopping centers
on a Thursday or Friday. Detailed
information about each month's activity schedule can be found in that month's
Sage Page.
This
is a free service for Stafford seniors and disabled persons.
In
order to participate, simply call 684-7752 for additional information and to schedule
your ride.
