An Open Letter to future Rotarians of Stafford -
The Rotary Club is a non-political, non-religious service organization created in 1905 to promote friendship and fellowship. Since its Stafford inception in 1943, the Rotary Club of Stafford has been promoting friendship and fellowship while providing goodwill and service in the town of Stafford.
Club activities, social events, and volunteer projects have been countless. We have partnered with our local resident troopers office to assist those in need. We have created funds for victims of fires. To honor a valued past member, we established the John E. Festi Fund to assist exchange students with travel expenses and participation fees. We participate and donate in the Citizens Scholarship Fund of Stafford. We have recognized Stafford High School students through our Students of the Month program. Through the years we have successfully sent students to team building ropes courses; teaching them life lessons and goal achievements. We have utilized district grants to provide students with dictionaries. We have contributed to Flo’s Friendship Soup Kitchen. We have hosted Rotary Means Business Networking events for the business community. We created and established Farm Day, a favorite local community agricultural event. We spread holiday cheer by providing fruit baskets to our local seniors and shut-ins. In 2020, we partnered with Stateline Senior Services to provide holiday gift cards. We have co-sponsored 5K Road Races and enjoyed the success of our annual golf tournament.
With this letter we are seeking new members; local leaders to help usher the club into a new age in an increasingly complex new world. We recognize that Stafford has had an influx of new residents and new businesses and we are excited to welcome them and fresh ideas into our club. The present club model needs to change to attract the volunteers of tomorrow and the Rotary organization is ready to make changes to the club to encompass new participants and a new electronic age.
Attached is a synopsis of what the club is and what it does--- along with a membership application. We are looking for members who are not only business professionals or leaders in their field of work, but people and organizations and businesses that have participated, partnered, networked, and volunteered their services in the past.
The Rotary Club of Stafford is at a crossroads and this opportunity to serve is in your hands. Please consider sharing your time, your energy, and your knowledge with us.
Please call Rotarian Ilene Whitmarsh at 860-508-9757 or Rotarian Stephanie Irving at 860-930-6123 or send along your application to Ilene Whitmarsh by text or email (c21ilw@aol.com).
