OFFICE OF THE REGISTRAR OF VOTERS (ROV)
The Office of the Registrar of Voters is a position, elected by the people, governed by Connecticut General Statutes and financially supported by the municipality in which the Registrars serve. Registrars work closely with the Office of the Secretary of the State to develop methods and procedures to ensure the voting rights of citizens and administer all elections (ie. National, State, Municipal, Primaries, and Referenda) based on current election laws.
REGISTRAR OF VOTERS RESPONSIBILITIES
The ROV are responsible to conduct all elections and for the preparation and certification of the Official Voters List. Together they are responsible for the recruiting, appointing and training of all election officials. They also prepare party enrollment lists. Their obligations include having voter equipment properly prepared and certified. The ROV are also responsible for tracking required voter statistics for federal and state agencies. The ROV are in charge of voter education, organizing and conducting the annual canvass of voters, preparing department budgets and providing absentee ballot assistance for convalescent home residents.
Registrars attend meetings called by the Secretary of the State in order to keep current on impending and new legislation which impacts the Office. Registrars are encouraged to join and attend meetings of the Registrar of Voters Association of Connecticut.
If you have any Election questions please E-Mail or call ROV's at the above. Residents can also contact the Town Clerk's Office with questions concerning voter registration and related items.
