REMINDER – TAXES DUE

 

REMINDER – TAXES DUE ON OR BEFORE

LEGAL NOTICE
 TAXPAYERS, TOWN OF STAFFORD

 

All persons liable to pay Property Taxes in the Town of STAFFORD are notified that the SECOND INSTALLMENT (Real Estate, Personal Property & Motor Vehicle) of taxes and motor vehicle taxes on the SUPPLEMENT list on the Grand List of October 1, 2021, are due January 1, 2023, and payable without interest through February 1, 2023

Failure to pay the tax on or before February 1, 2023, will render the tax delinquent and interest will be charged at the rate of 1+1/2% per month from the due date OR a MINIMUM INTEREST OF $2.00.  The higher amount prevails, INTEREST APPLIES SEPARATELY TO THE TOWN AND DISTRICT. 

Tax payments: by mail P.O. Box 111 Stafford Springs, CT  06076; online (fees apply) at staffordct.org; black drop box outside town hall; in person at Warren Memorial Town Hall, 1 Main Street, Stafford, CT.  When mailing in your tax payment if you would like a receipt, please enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope.

Town Hall hours: Mon-Wed 8:00am-4:30pm; Thurs 8:00am-6:30pm; CLOSED FRIDAY

Motor Vehicle:  Second installment or delinquent motor vehicle tax must be paid before or with the supplement.

If motor vehicle taxes are unpaid, you will not be able to register any motor vehicle in your name.  Delinquent motor vehicle taxes must be paid in cash, bank check, credit card or money order to be cleared with DMV.

Supplement: A pro-rated bill for any vehicle registered on or after October 1, 2021, and before September 30, 2022. If you transferred plates from one vehicle another, taxes are due in full on the old vehicle. A credit is applied to the supplemental bill for the new vehicle for paying on the old vehicle.
