American Rescue Plan Act

The Town of Stafford is looking for your feedback on how to plan and prioritize use of the Town’s American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds, approximately $3.5 million (half of which the Town received in May 2021, and the balance of which will be received in May 2022). Funds can only be used in accordance with the Act, which generally allows for the support of public utilities, elements of economic development, elements of social services, pandemic-related emergency services, and recovering lost municipal income. Your response will help inform the Stafford ARPA Committee on community needs and how to prioritize funding that will provide long-lasting benefits to residents and businesses. [Visit Site]

Leonard Road Bridge

The Town of Stafford has been working diligently to procure funding for the repair of the Leonard Road Bridge located at the intersection of Leonard Road and Route 319. This bridge was closed in the interest of public safety as a result of the Connecticut Department of Transportations last inspection. We have been notified of a commitment to fund for the replacement of the Leonard Road over Furnace Brook - Bridge # 04778 through the Local Transportation Capital Improvement Program (LOTCIP). The LOTCIP application for this project has been approved and has committed $1,712,000 for the construction costs related to the replacement of this bridge. The Local Capital Improvement Program is a State of Connecticut funding mechanism that distributes formula-based entitlement funds to municipalities to reimburse the cost of eligible capital improvement projects such as bridges. The final engineering and permitting is now in process. The Town still has much work to conduct prior to the start of construction but finally has a financial basis for which to proceed. As further progress advances, the Town will provide public statements to keep residents informed. Please feel free to contact the Department of Public Works in the Warren Memorial Town Hall for any additional information regarding this exciting project.
