Seeking Members: Stafford Brownfields Advisory Board

As part of the Stafford Brownfields Assessment Program - an initiative funded by a $300,000 brownfields grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency - the Town of Stafford has established the Stafford Brownfield Advisory Board. The purpose of the board is to encourage participation in identifying and assessing potentially contaminated properties within the Town of Stafford with the greatest potential for revitalization and redevelopment. New CERT Members Needed

The Town of Stafford Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is comprised of volunteer citizens, who are trained in basic life safety and emergency preparedness skills. The program is community based in order to provide rapid and safe care for our residents and to provide support to the Town’s emergency personnel in the event of a major incident or large scale disaster. The team has and will continue further training in order to provide residents and first responders with the most effective support. It will also focus on public education in order to increase the emergency preparedness of all residents in our community. [More Information]

VISION GOVERNMENT SOLUTIONS TO CONDUCT STAFFORD REVALUATION

The Appraisal Firm of Vision Government Solutions, Inc. has been hired by Stafford to perform the 2020 town-wide Revaluation Project as mandated by the State of Connecticut. Over the next year, representatives from Vision will be verifying information currently on file with the Assessor’s office as well as visiting properties that recently sold, with open building permits, or known physical changes. Data mailers will be sent to verify property information. All Vision Representatives will be wearing an identification badge and their vehicles will be registered with the police department. Homeowners are encouraged to ask for this identification prior to admitting anyone into their homes. If a homeowner has a question as to the identity of a Vision representative, they may call the police or the Assessor’s Office for further confirmation. BONDING PROJECT DETAILS

The BOS, BOF, and WPCA have proposed a 6.50-million-dollar bond package for town infrastructure. In this package there is a variety of projects including road repairs, bridge replacement, sidewalks, sewer line replacement and pump station rebuild.
