Stafford 300th Year Anniversary Parade & Party

Stafford will be celebrating its Tricentennial with a 300 Year Anniversary Parade and Party on Saturday, September 21! The parade steps of from Furnace Avenue (traveling up Main Street, West Main Street, left onto West Street) and meander and end at Stafford Motor Speedway (55 West Street). Following the parade, a celebration party with take place, featuring live music, historical presentations, a Morgan Horse vs. 1914 Ford Speedster race, a car show, exhibit hall, food and merchant vendors, lumberjack contest and more! The celebration party at the Speedway begins at 3pm and continues to 9pm, with fireworks by Pyrotecnico at 8:30pm. [More Information]


The Appraisal Firm of Vision Government Solutions, Inc. has been hired by Stafford to perform the 2020 town-wide Revaluation Project as mandated by the State of Connecticut. Over the next year, representatives from Vision will be verifying information currently on file with the Assessor’s office as well as visiting properties that recently sold, with open building permits, or known physical changes. Data mailers will be sent to verify property information. All Vision Representatives will be wearing an identification badge and their vehicles will be registered with the police department. Homeowners are encouraged to ask for this identification prior to admitting anyone into their homes. If a homeowner has a question as to the identity of a Vision representative, they may call the police or the Assessor’s Office for further confirmation. For more detailed information concerning the revaluation process contact the Assessor’s office.


In accordance with Connecticut General Statute 12-40, all persons who are liable to pay taxes on tangible personal property belonging to them on October 1, 2018, are hereby notified that they must file lists of same on or before November 1, 2019, or be subject to the statutory 25% penalty. Declaration forms are available in the Assessor’s Office or online at NOTE: A declaration for real property or Connecticut registered motor vehicles is not necessary. Taxable personal property includes but is not limited to, office equipment, machinery, farming tools, mechanics tools, horses, unregistered motor vehicles and campers. Registered camp trailers are taxable in the town where they are housed. All furniture, fixtures, machinery and equipment used in any business must be declared.
