Help Stafford Celebrate 300 years in 2019

The 300 Year Anniversary Committee has been working diligently and making great progress in planning meaningful events and observances to celebrate Stafford's three-century milestone in 2019. Assistance is needed to plan, coordinate and complete activities for the enjoyment of all residents. The list of events is quickly growing and can only be achieved by the active involvement of our community - volunteers with every type of skill and are needed. Whether you write, sew, paint, educate, fundraise, build or organize - every SINGLE person's contribution is valued and needed. To learn more about 300-year committees and fill out an interest form, please visit: https://www.staffordct300.com/get-involved Belong to a community group, Town committee or civic organization? Leonard Road Bridge Closure

The Connecticut Department of Transportation has ordered the Town of Stafford to discontinue use of the Leonard Road Bridge. This bridge is located on Leonard Road between TTM and the Mill Pond Store. The bridge will remain passable for pedestrian travel only and will exclude vehicle traffic until repairs are complete. The extent of needed repairs as well as the length of closure is uncertain at this time. For additional information please contact Richard Zulick at the Department of Public Works at (860) 684-3448.

All final approvals for the Leonard Road Bridge closure have been received. The closure will be initiated mid-morning Monday May 14, 2018. Please be advised that Pinney School Road has been paved and may be used as needed. Pinney School Road is a poor choice for large vehicles because of the geometry at the intersection of Upper Road. The official detour routes run RT 19 to Hydeville Road to Upper Road to Leonard Road for trucks and north and west bound traffic. Eastbound traffic should use Murphy Road to Old Monson Road to Leonard Road. The detours are well marked and should be easy to follow. These detours may be reevaluated in the future. Please plan for a few extra minutes in your busy schedules and as always, please drive carefully.
